Can I put beverages other than water in my refresh2go®?
Yes! Our 2 in 1 functionality allows you to use your refresh2go® bottle with any beverage you want. If you want filtered water, simply use the straw with the filter attached. If you want a beverage other than filtered water, simply attach the full length straw to your cap—without the filter—and enjoy!

How do I get started using my refresh2go® water filter?
To get started with your refresh2go® water filter, first assemble your bottle:

  • Remove safety wrap from filter
  • Rinse filter upside down with cold water to remove fine filter dust
  • Attach filter to the bottom of the straw
  • Insert the straw into the cap, screw it on, flip and sip!

What type of water can I use in my refresh2go®?
Refresh2go® is only for use with drinking water or potable water such as tap water and drinking fountains. It is not for use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality such as lakes, streams, and rivers.

Can I put ice in my refresh2go®?
Yes. Feel free to fill the bottle with ice, but be sure to leave enough room in the bottle for the filter housing and tube assembly when the cap is replaced.

How do I clean my refresh2go®?
Cleaning your bottle is easy! The bottle and cap are dishwasher top-rack safe. Rinse filter straw with cold water only (do not use cleaners)

What if I accidentally wash my refresh2go® filter in the dishwasher?
If you accidentally wash your refresh2go® filter in the dishwasher, we recommend that you discard it and place a new refresh2go® filter in your bottle.

What is the silicone piece where the straw attaches to the lid? How do I assemble it or clean it?
This small piece (we call it a boot!) is a new addition to the Refresh2go caps to help attach the straw easier and to help eliminate any air bubbles or noises while drinking. Simply make sure the silicone piece is attached to the lid and firmly press the straw all the way inside until the straw engages in the plastic part of the lid. We recommend removing the boot when cleaning and washing with warm soapy water.

How often should I replace my refresh2go® filter?
Each refresh2go® filter treats about 40 gallons of water, which is approximately two months of daily use. If you use your refresh2go® more regularly, you may need to change your filter more frequently. Register for Refresh2go® filter reminders.

How do I change my refresh2go® filter?
To change your filter simply remove the old filter from the bottom of the straw. Place the new, rinsed, filter on the bottom of the straw, fill, screw on the cap, and enjoy! Need more help? Watch this video on how to change your filter!

What’s the difference between the old filter and the new design?
Style! We simply wanted to update our outer design to make sure you have the most stylish bottles around. There is no difference in the filter performance, filter materials, or filter life between our old and new design. Our new filters are still made from all-natural coconut shell carbon and are good for 40 gallons (about two months of use). You can remain confident that you’ll get the high quality, great tasting water that you’re used to from our old filters…with a new, sleek design!

Will the new filter design fit my bottle?
Of course! Our goal is to make life EASIER for you – so we’ve designed the new filter to work with both our old and new models of refresh2go® bottles.

I see some black specs in the straw or water. Is something wrong?
No. The black specs are simply fine carbon dust from our filter. Please don’t fret; carbon is natural substance and causes absolutely no harm when ingested. We understand it’s never fun to see black in your water, so we’ve created a fine mesh covering around our filter to reduce this from happening. However, the first time you use your filter you may see some black or grey particles, but rest assured, it will quickly dissipate if you rinse the filter under cool water. Watch a video explanation from our expert.

Why does the bottom of my filter turn black after it has been used?
refresh2go® filters are made from all-natural coconut shell carbon that is black in color. Our filters are wrapped in a fine mesh to prevent carbon particles from escaping; however, when it gets wet, you can see the black filter through the white mesh. There is nothing to worry about, it’s simply your filter working hard to give you fresh, filtered water! Watch a video explanation from our expert.

Level 1 filter vs Level 2, what’s the difference?
All of our bottles come standard with one Level 1 filter. This filter is designed to reduce chlorine taste and odor for tap water. We have recently launched a brand new Level 2 filter that also filters Lead from tap water. We understand that sometimes you are concerned with the potential level of lead in certain taps/drinking fountains. Just like Level 1 filters, Level 2 also filters chlorine taste and odor but gives the extra assurances of filtering Lead. This new Level 2 filter can be bought separately (it comes in a 2pack) and can be used with any Refresh2go bottle.

I ordered new straws but need to trim them. How much should I cut them?

I need a replacement straw. How do I get one?
You can purchase a 3pack of straws here. All of our straws come as full length straws and you can download our trimming guide to make sure it fits your specific bottle here: (list out each guide link below)

When I put the new filter on, my straw is too long. What do I do?
Because our new filter design is slightly longer than the our old version, it may be necessary to trim your straw to make sure it’s the right length for your bottle style. The straw is easy to trim with a regular pair of scissors. We suggest trimming off a very small section at a time until you find the right size for your bottle. You may also place the filter on the straw, place inside the bottle, and trim off the section that sticks out of the bottle. Download our Straw Template Guide for further assistance.

I’m experiencing air bubbles when I drink. Why?
Occasionally, the mouthpiece can loosen and cause some slight air bubbles. If you are experiencing this, open and close your mouthpiece multiple times, then push firmly on the base of the mouthpiece (where the mouthpiece is connected to the cap). If you need more help, watch a quick video from our expert—we’ll get those bubbles cleared up in no time!

I’ve been traveling with my bottle, or it has been out in the heat. Is there anything I should do?
If you’re traveling on a plane or experience a major change in pressure, water may come out of your bottle when you open the mouthpiece. Our bottles have such a tight seal (to prevent leaks!) that after a pressure change, it can create a vacuum and cause the water to come out on its own. To prevent this from happening, simply loosen your lid to let some air in, then tighten the lid before opening the mouthpiece to drink. For a demonstration on how to handle any change in pressure for worry-free, leak-free travel, check out this video from our expert!

My new filter is coming out of the plastic housing. How do I fix it?
If your filter is sliding out of the filter case, simply push firmly on the bottom of the filter packet until it goes further inside the filter housing (approximately 1/4 – 1/2″) until it does not lay flat against the opening. For more information and guidance, watch this video demonstration from our resident expert!

My bottle is making noises. Why?
Occasionally the bladder (the silicone piece on the inside of the lid) can become stuck shut and make a noise. The best thing to do is to try pinching it together so you can see an opening when you pinch it.

Noises can also occur if the lid is screwed on very tight. Refresh2go® lids have unique leak-proof technology and if the lid is overly tightened, it can make it slightly harder to drink and also make some noises. We recommend making sure your lid is closed well but not overtightened.
